For Authorized Users of the UMF English Blog:
Click on “Write” (in the upper right hand corner of the screen).
This will open a screen for writing your post. At the top of the page will be a space for the title. To start writing the post itself, just start typing in the open space beneath the title.
If you look at the upper left corner of the page, you will see a blue block with a plus sign (+) inside. If you click on that block, you will get a drop down menu with options. What might be most useful to us is the media section. If you scroll down you’ll see “Image.” Clicking on this will allow you to insert an image into your post. This will open a box inside the post that will give you the option of uploading an image from your computer or inserting an image through a link to a website.
If you would like to include a link to a website in your post, say, to an interview with Son of a Trickster author Eden Robinson, highlight the section of text that will include the link. When you do so, a box will appear above the text. Click on the image for link (-). Copy and paste the web address in the space that opens up, and then press enter to insert the link in the post.
There are a lot more options for adding material to your posts that you can discover through experimentation. For the moment, this should be enough to get you started with your first post.
When you are ready to publish the post, click on the blue “Publish” button in the upper right corner. If you’re not ready to publish, you can “Save draft” and return to it later.
